The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (RQF) is a regulated qualification designed to develop more advanced workplace health and safety knowledge.

The course helps learners build a stronger understanding of legal responsibilities, workplace welfare, safety management systems, risk assessment, common workplace hazards, control measures and the management of accidents and occupational ill health.

This is a private group booking, allowing your organisation to train your team together on a date that suits you.

Course Duration

Typically 3 days with a minimum of 21 guided learning hours, plus approximately 5 hours of directed preparation or study.

Delivery Options

Face-to-Face

Choose either:

  • training at your own suitable workplace

  • our Suffolk training venue

  • our North London training venue

Standard face-to-face courses are available for groups of up to 16 learners.

Live Online

The qualification can also be delivered through a live virtual classroom, with learners joining the instructor remotely. Online courses are limited to a maximum of 8 learners per trainer and assessment is completed in accordance with Qualsafe's remote assessment requirements.

What the Course Covers

Learners develop a more advanced understanding of workplace health and safety, including legal responsibilities, safety management systems, risk assessment, workplace hazards and the management of accidents and incidents.

The course includes areas such as:

  • health and safety legislation and legal responsibilities

  • workplace welfare and health and safety communication

  • safety management systems and safety culture

  • principles and types of risk assessment

  • the five steps to risk assessment and hierarchy of control

  • common workplace hazards and associated risks

  • control measures for workplace hazards

  • occupational health, stress, ergonomics and hazardous substances

  • accident recording, RIDDOR and incident reporting

  • accident investigation, immediate causes and root causes

Assessment

Learners complete a 60-question multiple-choice assessment with up to 90 minutes to complete it. A minimum score of 40 out of 60 is required to pass.

Depending on the delivery method, the assessment may be completed as a paper-based assessment or an approved invigilated e-assessment.

Certification

Successful learners receive the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (RQF) certificate.

Qualsafe certificates can also be verified online.

The qualification itself does not have a fixed expiry date. However, Qualsafe recommends that learners refresh their training every 3 years to help keep their knowledge current.

Who Is This Course For?

This qualification is designed for people who are currently working, or preparing to work, at supervisory or management level and want to develop more advanced health and safety knowledge.

It is particularly suitable for:

Learners must be at least 16 years old. Qualsafe recommends that learners already hold a Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace, although this is not a mandatory entry requirement.
